Having trouble keeping up with the demands of being a Mum and Professional life?

There is nothing more stressful and overwhelming for mums than the struggle of keeping up with professional life. Work. Kids. School commitments. After school taxi runs. Domestic demands … it never ends!  The relentless pressure leads you to guilt, stress and exhaustion. Endless days and sleepless nights. Sound familiar?

Space and Time Philosophy

I completely believe  in efficiency and that done is better than perfect !! Nobody wants to spend all weekend cleaning the house, instead we want more spare time to spend with our family, playing with the dog and doing other fun stuff.

I know that professional, working Mums need the right “flow” in their lives to keep pursuing ALL the things you want, so they CAN have it all.

I also understand that Mums need to avoid decision-making fatigue,  they really want to eat healthy food, and that they want systems in place so they can enjoy there is less stress at home (and at work).

AND.. amongst all that, I see that Mums  want to be the best people they can be so they are able to inspire their kids to be happy, healthy and successful.

Need some help?

With so many demands on working Mums, it’s imperative to get the priorities right. This can be done by creating a weekly schedule.

Find a diary or print out with a week to a page. Add times to get up in the morning (with NO snooze button), and time to go to bed. Add self care and time out.

Then consider:

  • work commitments, breaking it down into manageable blocks
  • school and after school activities
  • kids’ bedtime
  • meal planning and shopping (try online for efficiency)
  • laundry routine

Remember, you only have 168 hours in the week. Be realistic with what you can achieve each day and each week.

Outsource as much as you can to your partner, kids and extended family. Don’t be shy to ask other mums, neighbours and friends, especially teenage kids looking to make a few bucks.

Be committed and stick to your schedule. A few extra minutes sitting on the couch at the end of the night will make it even more difficult to get up in the morning to start the whole cycle again.
